Maxim was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in November. The surgeon at Kyiv University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,700, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,850 short. my son has been in and out of Kyiv University Hospital since November. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,700 is more than we can find. While we wait, Maxim struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Maxim won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,850 goes: • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $135 • Travel and lodging for the family: $100 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $650 • Physiotherapy sessions: $170 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $795 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Maxim.

    • Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. pre-operative tests and imaging comes first ($135) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid.

  • sending good thoughts, Sofia. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Blessings

    • Looking forward to the next update. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Campinas.

      • Wishing you peace, Sofia. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in customer support myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Blessings
