Knee replacement surgery for Latha: covering what insurance won't
After osteoarthritis in the right knee, Latha was cleared for knee replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Latha was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in January. The surgeon at Gaya Community Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,200, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $950 short.
my mother has been in and out of Gaya Community Hospital since January. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,200 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Latha struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Latha won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $490
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $230
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $85
• Post-operative medication: $20
• Physiotherapy sessions: $70
• Travel and lodging for the family: $55
