Knee replacement surgery for Kannan: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled knee replacement surgery in September is out of reach without help covering $600 of the cost.

Kannan was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in May. The surgeon at Surat Orthopedic Institute recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,000, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $600 short.
my father has been in and out of Surat Orthopedic Institute since May. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Kannan struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Kannan won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $600 goes:
• Physiotherapy sessions: $85
• Travel and lodging for the family: $45
• Hospital stay (4 nights): $410
• Post-operative medication: $60

hope things get better soon. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best
