Knee replacement surgery for Jacob: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled knee replacement surgery in October is out of reach without help covering $5,400 of the cost.

Jacob was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in August. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $5,400 short.
my son has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since August. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Jacob struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Jacob won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $5,400 goes:
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $210
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,350
• Hospital stay (4 nights): $1,840
Glad we found this place.
