Knee replacement surgery for Evi: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled knee replacement surgery in April is out of reach without help covering $1,950 of the cost.

Evi was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in December. The surgeon at The Hague University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,250, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,950 short.
my wife has been in and out of The Hague University Hospital since December. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Evi struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Evi won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
