Kiprop needs a powered wheelchair - help us make it happen
Kiprop needs a powered wheelchair that the health system won't fund; the cost is $600.
🇰🇪 Likoni, Mombasa, Kenya976 views
Kiprop lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at Likoni General Hospital has assessed him and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $600.
His current equipment is 13 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 10 weeks.
With the right equipment Kiprop could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $600 goes:
• powered wheelchair: $490
• Fitting and training sessions: $50
• First-year servicing plan: $60
With deep gratitude,
Hellen

Sending strength. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. God bless.
is there anything that isn't money that would help Kiprop?
Thank you. If you're in Likoni I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. It helps to be asked.
shared it with a few friends. I have a 13 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Likoni
Sending good thoughts. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.
Hang in there, Hellen. Hope you get there. Sent it to 25 people at work.
