Kevin's spinal decompression surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
After severe cataracts in both eyes, Kevin was cleared for spinal decompression surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Kevin was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in September. The surgeon at Johannesburg Orthopedic Institute recommended spinal decompression surgery, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,550, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,250 short.
my son has been in and out of Johannesburg Orthopedic Institute since September. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,550 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Kevin struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Kevin won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
