The electricity account is 2 months behind. Jamal received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on December unless $600 is paid. He had never been late before an unexpected car repair.
Jamal called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $135 first, which isn't available.
The household includes three children under ten, and going through the cold months without electricity isn't safe. The children would have no light to study by.
Jamal is working on getting back on his feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady.
