Keep the electricity on at Ama's home in Accra
Ama is behind on electricity bills after May's medical emergency and needs $100 to avoid a shut-off.
🇬🇭 Ghana170 views
The electricity account is 3 months behind. Ama received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on August unless $100 is paid. She had never been late before May's medical emergency.
Ama called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $20 first, which isn't available.
The household includes three children under ten, and going through winter without electricity isn't safe. The children would have no light to study by.
Ama is working on getting back on her feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady.
The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here.
Where the $100 goes:
• Electricity arrears: $40
• Reconnection and late fees: $15
• Down payment on a payment plan: $45
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

How is Ama doing now?
So sorry you're going through this, Esi. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. Take care.
Keep going. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. Thinking of Accra.
Rooting for you, Esi. Hope this works out for you. Greetings from Jerusalem
wishing you peace. This could happen to any of us. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry
You're not alone, Esi. Shared this with my family. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money
