Keep the electricity and water on at Chidi's home in Lagos

Chidi is behind on electricity and water bills after my partner leaving the household and needs $100 to avoid a shut-off.

The electricity and water account is 3 months behind. Chidi received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on December unless $100 is paid. He had never been late before my partner leaving the household. Chidi called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $25 first, which isn't available. The household includes a disabled brother, and going through summer without electricity and water isn't safe. We would also lose the ability to run the medical equipment at home. Chidi is working on getting back on his feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady. Every dollar goes to the account in Chidi's name; a copy of the paid bill will be shared in the updates. Where the $100 goes: • Electricity arrears: $50 • Reconnection and late fees: $20 • Down payment on a payment plan: $30 Thanks for reading all this. - Kingsley

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Chidi

    • Sure. The biggest one is electricity arrears, $50. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Happy to explain more.

  • Sending strength. Your post was clear and honest. My neighbor in Gujranwala donated after I showed her your page
