Keep a roof over Selam's head in Addis Ababa
A delayed insurance payout left Selam short on rent for 4 months; help us stay in our home.

After a sudden layoff at the restaurant, Selam fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a notice to vacate was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $500.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, the family must leave.
There are a teenager still in school at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Selam has started working extra hours at a market stall, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rent arrears (4 months): $360
• Late fees and court costs: $20
• Utilities in arrears: $25
• First month of rent as a buffer: $95
