After a sudden layoff at the call centre, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Friday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $750. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by September, we must leave. I've 1 children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $750 goes: • Late fees and court costs: $45 • First month of rent as a buffer: $175 • Rent arrears (3 months): $530 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Sasithorn

Updates from Sasithorn

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($241 in total) the plan for first month of rent as a buffer is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. We're at 23% thanks to 6 of you. we've started the first stage. More news soon.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 9% funded and I made the first payment toward late fees and court costs.
