Following a long illness in the family, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $450.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by July, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working weekend shifts, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.

• Late fees and court costs: $25
• Utilities in arrears: $35
• First month of rent as a buffer: $120

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Rizwan.
Rent arrears (2 months) is $270 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. It helps to be asked.
