Keep a roof over Reagan's head in Dallas

After a car accident, Reagan is 3 months behind on rent and has a notice to vacate from the landlord.

When the packaging plant closed in August, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Monday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $5,100. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by December, we must leave. I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $5,100 goes: • Rent arrears (3 months): $3,800 • Late fees and court costs: $200 • Utilities in arrears: $320 • First month of rent as a buffer: $780 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Reagan

Updates from Reagan

  1. 20% there. I made the first payment toward rent arrears. Thank you.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,902 in total) we've started the first stage. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($3,213 in total) the plan for first month of rent as a buffer is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
