Nnewi
When my hours were cut in half in August, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a final eviction notice was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $150. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave. I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working weekend shifts, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done. Where the $150 goes: • Utilities in arrears: $35 • First month of rent as a buffer: $95 • Late fees and court costs: $20 With deep gratitude, Queen

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Queen.

Sure. The biggest one is utilities in arrears, $35. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Fair thing to want to know.

  • thanks for sharing this, Queen. Shared this with my family. Love from Lagos.
