Keep a roof over Nalini's head in Polokwane
After a sudden layoff, Nalini is 2 months behind on rent and has a notice to vacate from the landlord.

When my hours were cut in half in August, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $1,000.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working night deliveries, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Rent arrears (2 months): $590
• Late fees and court costs: $75
• Utilities in arrears: $50
• First month of rent as a buffer: $285
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Stay strong, Nalini. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. My husband and I read this together
I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. I have a 9 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
Take care, Nalini. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. I'll check back for the next update.
Hang in there, Nalini. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
