A court summons for non-payment arrived last week. Meseret needs $400 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Bahir Dar.

After a sudden layoff at the call centre, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a court summons for non-payment was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $400.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I've 3 children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working night deliveries, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $400 goes:
• Rent arrears (5 months): $230
• Late fees and court costs: $35
• Utilities in arrears: $25
• First month of rent as a buffer: $110

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Meseret.
Sure. The biggest one is rent arrears (5 months), $230. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for looking so closely.
