Keep a roof over Mekdes's head in Addis Ababa
A notice to vacate arrived last week. Mekdes needs $500 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Addis Ababa.

When my hours were cut in half in August, I fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $500.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave.
I have a teenager still in school at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working two part-time jobs, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rent arrears (4 months): $330
• Late fees and court costs: $50
• Utilities in arrears: $20
• First month of rent as a buffer: $100
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

is there anything that isn't money that would help Mekdes?
Thinking of you and your family. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 13 people at work.
Wishing you the best. Looking forward to the next update. My husband and I read this together. Greetings from Lagos.
