Keep a roof over Lola's head in Abuja
A sudden layoff left Lola short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.
Anywhere in the world842 views
After a sudden layoff at the bakery, Lola fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a termination letter was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $350.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, the family must leave.
There are three school-aged children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Lola has started working night deliveries, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $350 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $25
• First month of rent as a buffer: $70
• Rent arrears (3 months): $255
Thank you so much.

Sending good thoughts. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We're a small family in Pune but we're thinking of you
