When my hours were cut in half in March, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Monday a termination letter was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $550.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by May, we must leave.
I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $550 goes:

• First month of rent as a buffer: $155

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kunal.
Sure. The biggest one is rent arrears (3 months), $350. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Appreciate you taking the time.
