Keep a roof over Joaquín's head in Chattanooga

A delayed insurance payout left Joaquín short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.

After a car accident that kept me from work for 7 weeks, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Friday a final eviction notice was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $950. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave. I've 4 children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $950 goes: • Late fees and court costs: $170 • Utilities in arrears: $185 • First month of rent as a buffer: $595 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Joaquín

Good luck, Joaquín. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. After 16 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
