Keep a roof over Irene's head in Mwanza
After the loss of a second income, Irene is 5 months behind on rent and has a court summons for non-payment from the landlord.

After a sudden layoff at the hotel, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a court summons for non-payment was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $600.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working two part-time jobs, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $600 goes:
• Rent arrears (5 months): $400
• Late fees and court costs: $35
• Utilities in arrears: $25
• First month of rent as a buffer: $140
Thank you so much.

Hope this works out for you. Greetings from Naivasha.
You're not alone, Irene. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Mwanza.
