Keep a roof over İbrahim's head in Üsküdar
After a cut in working hours, İbrahim is 5 months behind on rent and has a termination letter from the landlord.
🇹🇷 Üsküdar, Istanbul, Türkiye1,111 views
When the textile factory closed in August, İbrahim fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a termination letter was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $850.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, the family must leave.
There are two young children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
İbrahim has started working weekend shifts, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $850 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $30
• First month of rent as a buffer: $280
• Rent arrears (5 months): $540
