Keep a roof over Harold's head in Bakersfield
The loss of a second income left Harold short on rent for 2 months; help us stay in our home.
🇺🇸 United States4,600 views
After a car accident that kept me from work for 8 weeks, Harold fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a court summons for non-payment was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $4,000.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by August, the family must leave.
There are 4 children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Harold has started working night deliveries, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $4,000 goes:
• Rent arrears (2 months): $2,300
• Late fees and court costs: $380
• Utilities in arrears: $145
• First month of rent as a buffer: $1,175
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
