Keep a roof over Gemma's head in Detroit
The closure of the factory left Gemma short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.

After a sudden layoff at the call centre, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $2,550.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by February, we must leave.
I have a teenager still in school at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working weekend shifts, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Rent arrears (3 months): $1,400
• Late fees and court costs: $350
• Utilities in arrears: $140
• First month of rent as a buffer: $660

Updates from Gemma
Small update. $259 so far, the plan for utilities in arrears is now scheduled.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($106 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Gemma
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rent arrears (3 months) comes first ($1,400) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid.
Wishing you the best, Gemma. Hope you get there. God bless.
wishing you peace, Gemma. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best!
Praying for you, Gemma. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together
Rooting for you, Gemma. Hope you get there. Greetings from Allentown.
