Keep a roof over Eugene's head in Fresno

When the call centre closed in September, Eugene fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Monday a termination letter was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $1,050. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by December, the family must leave. There are a teenager still in school at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Eugene has started working two part-time jobs, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $1,050 goes: • First month of rent as a buffer: $690 • Utilities in arrears: $175 • Late fees and court costs: $185 Thanks for reading all this.
