Keep a roof over Cesar's head in Taguig

Taguig
After a sudden layoff at the packaging plant, Cesar fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a termination letter was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $400. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by August, the family must leave. There are three school-aged children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Cesar has started working evenings as a cleaner, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $400 goes: • Late fees and court costs: $45 • Rent arrears (3 months): $320 • Utilities in arrears: $35 With deep gratitude, Charmaine

  • Stay strong, Charmaine. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Put this on a community board in Hamilton this morning.

    • I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. We're a small family in Noida but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Taguig.

      • So sorry you're going through this. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out.

        • is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Cesar.

          • Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. late fees and court costs comes first ($45) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Fair thing to want to know.

        • hang in there, Charmaine. Shared this with my family. All the best

          • It takes guts to ask. Well done. We're a small family in San Diego but we're thinking of you

            • you're not alone. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. All the best.

              • Keep going. Shared this with my family. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Taguig!

                • I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Love from Bacoor.

                  • Sending strength. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. We're a small family in Manila but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Manila.
