Keep a roof over Adewale's head in Lagos
The closure of the factory left Adewale short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.
🇳🇬 Nigeria720 views
After a sudden layoff at the textile factory, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Monday a court summons for non-payment was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $600.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by June, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working night deliveries, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $600 goes:
• Rent arrears (3 months): $450
• Late fees and court costs: $35
• First month of rent as a buffer: $115
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
