I served fourteen years in the engineering corps and was discharged in 2023 with a back injury. I have been waiting seven months for support, and meanwhile I'm sleeping at my brother's place.
I have a plan: a trained service dog and handler course. The quote I have comes to $500.
I'm receiving counseling through the veterans' clinic and am committed to my recovery. Structure and a stable place to live are the missing pieces.
I'd be grateful for any help and will share updates on how I'm doing.
I'll post invoices, with personal details hidden.
Where the $500 goes:
• Essential household items: $40
• Training provider fees: $390
• Transport to appointments: $70
I hope life is good to you.

Hope it all works out. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 26 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
shared this with my family. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best

Wishing you the best, Kato. Looking forward to the next update. My husband and I read this together.
you're not alone. I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Dhaka but we're thinking of you. All the best
