Kariuki's a partial thyroidectomy can't wait - please help us cover the bill
After a herniated spinal disc, Kariuki was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Kariuki was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Mombasa University Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,500, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $750 short.
my brother has been in and out of Mombasa University Hospital since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Kariuki struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Kariuki won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $75
• Physiotherapy sessions: $60
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $330
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $285
