Karim is facing a rare sarcoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In April I was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma. My oncology team at the Heliopolis Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in June. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 49, I worked as a tailor until April, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Heliopolis Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $70
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $930
• Transport to the Heliopolis Oncology Institute: $80
• Household costs while unable to work: $320
