The earthquake hit the Old Town district on 23 August. My home was one of 77 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $900 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $330
• Clean water and purification supplies: $110
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $60
• Food parcels for displaced families: $230
• Tools and labor for repairs: $170
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Thanks for sharing this. Hope this works out for you. We're a small family in San Nicolás de los Garza but we're thinking of you. Take care.
Sending good thoughts. More neighborhoods should do this. Thinking of Karachi.
Keep going. This could happen to any of us. After 12 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything
