Justice shouldn't depend on a bank balance: Yamuna's wrongful-eviction defense
Yamuna needs $400 for filing fees and representation in a wrongful-eviction defense before the December deadline.

Yamuna is facing a wrongful-eviction defense. The hearing is scheduled for December, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $400. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline.
Yamuna has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at Nashik Welcome Centre has confirmed that the case is valid.
If the deadline is missed Yamuna could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $400 goes:
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $10
• Certified translations and document copies: $35
• Attorney retainer: $355
