Justice shouldn't depend on a bank balance: Héctor's citizenship application
Héctor needs $1,150 for filing fees and representation in a citizenship application before the November deadline.

I'm facing a citizenship application. My hearing is scheduled for November, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $1,150. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline.
I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at the Xalapa Community Legal Centre has confirmed that my case is valid.
If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know.
I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along.
The money goes to the immigration attorney's trust account and the court filing office. I'll upload receipts with sensitive details removed.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $820
• Filing and biometrics fees: $195
• Certified translations and document copies: $70
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $65
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
Updates from Héctor
Small update. $73 so far, the plan for filing and biometrics fees is now scheduled.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($93 in total) I made the first payment toward certified translations and document copies. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Good luck. Shared it with a few friends. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Xalapa.
Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Xalapa!
You're not alone. Looking forward to the next update. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Coventry
your post was clear and honest. After 15 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Üsküdar.
Wishing you the best. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Take care
reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Take care.
