I live with muscular dystrophy. My occupational therapist at the Iztapalapa Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $2,750.
My current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $2,750 goes:
• Delivery and set-up: $20
• powered wheelchair: $2,650
• Fitting and training sessions: $80
