Júlia was diagnosed with prostate cancer in March. The oncology team at the Brasília Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in July. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Júlia is 57, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until March, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Brasília Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $4,050 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $120 • Scans and lab work: $400 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,850 • Household costs while unable to work: $680 Please ask me anything in the questions section.
