In March I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. My oncology team at Manila University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in June. I was told to expect about 7 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 42, I worked as a bakery worker until March, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Manila University Hospital 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,050 goes: • Scans and lab work: $130 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $680 • Transport to Manila University Hospital: $120 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $120 Thanks for being kind about this. - Juan

  • Rooting for you, Juan. Hope this works out for you. Greetings from Saint-Denis.

    • Thinking of you and your family, Juan. Wishing Juan a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Manila.
