Joyce was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in August. The surgeon at Bronx University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,750, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $2,900 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Bronx University Hospital since August. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Joyce struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Joyce won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
