Josiane was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in February. The surgeon at Rio de Janeiro Community Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $670, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $400 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Rio de Janeiro Community Hospital since February. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $670 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Josiane struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Josiane won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
