Joshua was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in August. The oncology team at the Los Angeles Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 8 weeks.
Joshua is 43, worked as a taxi driver until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Los Angeles Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,800 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,050
• Transport to the Los Angeles Oncology Institute: $350
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $600
• Scans and lab work: $800
