Josefa was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in December. The surgeon at Bowling Green General Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,750, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $6,950 short. my mother has been in and out of Bowling Green General Hospital since December. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Josefa struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Josefa won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $6,950 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,650 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $2,100 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $260 • Post-operative medication: $430 • Physiotherapy sessions: $310 • Travel and lodging for the family: $200 With deep gratitude, Víctor
