Jorge was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in December. The surgeon at Campinas Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,500 short. my son has been in and out of Campinas Orthopedic Institute since December. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Jorge struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Jorge won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $2,500 goes: • Post-operative medication: $60 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $1,000 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,300 • Physiotherapy sessions: $140 I hope life is good to you. - Francisca
