Jomar was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in August. The surgeon at Makati Community Hospital recommended septoplasty, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,250, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $750 short. my father has been in and out of Makati Community Hospital since August. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,250 is more than we can find. While we wait, Jomar struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Jomar won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $750 goes: • Travel and lodging for the family: $30 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $320 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $360 • Post-operative medication: $40 If you're reading this, thank you.
