John's hip replacement surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
A scheduled hip replacement surgery in April is out of reach without help covering $2,500 of the cost.

In February I was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect. My surgeon at Kansas City Orthopedic Institute recommended hip replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for April. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $5,000, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $2,500 short.
Doctors at Kansas City Orthopedic Institute told me an aortic valve defect will get worse without hip replacement surgery. I work as a retail assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $5,000 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a retail assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
