Janet was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in April. The surgeon at Liverpool University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $3,900 short.
my sister has been in and out of Liverpool University Hospital since April. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Janet struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Janet won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
