Jacaranda Primary School needs a rainwater harvesting system - Alexandra's neighborhood project
Volunteers in New York are raising $2,450 for a rainwater harvesting system at Jacaranda Primary School.
🇺🇸 United States1,065 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,450.
It will serve about 488 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Materials: $1,400
• Permits and inspections: $330
• Safety equipment and signage: $390
• Tools hire and delivery: $330
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
