Ivy was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in March. The surgeon at Hamilton Community Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $2,000 short. my mother has been in and out of Hamilton Community Hospital since March. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Ivy struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Ivy won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $2,000 goes: • Hospital stay (2 nights): $1,300 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $560 • Travel and lodging for the family: $140 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
