Ivan was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in July. The surgeon at Odesa Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,100, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,550 short. my husband has been in and out of Odesa Orthopedic Institute since July. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,100 is more than we can find. While we wait, Ivan struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks.
