Isabelle was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $5,250 short. my sister has been in and out of Saint Francis Hospital since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Isabelle struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Isabelle won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
