Mukono
I live with a spinal cord injury. My occupational therapist at Mukono General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $350. My current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 8 weeks. With the right equipment I could join the school sports day. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $350 goes: • prosthetic leg: $260 • First-year servicing plan: $45 • Fitting and training sessions: $45 If you're reading this, thank you.

  • Thanks for sharing this, Waweru. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Mukono.

Take care, Waweru. Wishing Waweru a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Put this on a community board in Los Angeles this morning. Take care.
